My CLKs key has been playing up recently, yesterday almost couldn't open car after blocking in the removals lorry who needed to get out.

Have a spare however that is dead too :(
Anyone recommend/ have experience getting a replacement key either at Mercedes or a third party company? How much am I likely to have to pay out? I'd rather get the Chrome Key if possible as currently I have the plain blacks :)
Cheers

Abs :)

A assume you have replaced the battery in both keys?

Mercedes will order you a new key for approx £230 and you'll need to show them the V5 for proof of ownership and some kind of ID.

RMK in Birmingham will make a key for you if you arrange a time to visit and cover travelling costs. They charge £180 for a chrome key. Again you'll need to show ID and proof of ownership. They also repair keys if you mail them.

Just to add to the above. MB only do chrome keys now and if you do order from a main dealer make sure you ask for a pre-programmed key.
Also get the old keys removed from the car's memory.

I used these guys and they were great. They come to you (once) rather than you having to go to an MB parts dept twice. They're cheaper. And while they were at mine providing a new chrome key they also provided a replacement case for the existing plastic one which had a hole in it.

On top of all that if I ever need another one I can do it all over the phone/email for a much reduced rate.
