Replacement wheels for V221 S Class

My father's 2011 S Class is (ridiculously) going through tyres due to pothole damage. Tyre size on the car 275/35R20 rear and 255/35 R20 front. We would like to put original, standard, alloys on the car, but a smaller size wheel and larger tyre wall, to try see if this helps. Any advice on the handling and effect would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ride would be much improved and there would be negligible effect on handling, unless your father likes to throw the car into the corners...

The 20" are an option on the 221 and is quite a hard ride. . You will find the 18" wheel far more comfortable, lots more rubber.
