Replacing 2016 E-class 220D... any thoughts?

There's a lot of change going on in the new car market right now. I don't think I would buy a new diesel; there's not enough choice for petrol options and the whole EV proposition is not mature enough (imo) to have an electric car as an only car - possible exception Tesla. You are also in a sweet spot on the depreciation curve with your current car and unlikely to have major problems between 50k and 100k ish miles so if I were in your position I would stay with the current car and see what happens in the next 2/3 years.
