Hi all

I have been told my Heater Blower Motor on my CL55 2001 needs replacing. I was thinking of finding a second hand one and trying myself. Could anybody give me some guidence and tell me how easy it is?

thanks in advance :) Danny

Nice to see my HOWTO is still popular!

Try to find out why it needs to be replaced as there are some much cheaper options for repair rather than replace.

is there a way of fault finding it?

Thanks Danny

On the 202, 208, 210 etc you can take the fan out and have it running in your hands (careful!). You can visually inspect it paying close attention to the plugs, wiring and internally the brushes. If the car has done high mileage or has spent a lot of time going nowhere with the fan running then the bushes might be worn.

If the bushes *are* worn then in the case of other models you can get an electrician to replace them or you can stretch the springs etc to see if you can get some more life out of them.

The brushes on mine first started giving me problems back in 2004, a year after I bought it with about 100k on the clock and now in 2009 with nearly double that mileage the original fan is still just about running!

good luck - please let me know how you get on as I believe mine has developed an intermittent squeek (about a year ago :o) and I may need to do the same.

I bought a new one for £90 from GSF - was tired of keep taking it out and fiddling with it

....... and following Shudes How To it's easy as well

Looks as if it fits from below the heater box from this???? If this is the case you may be able to access it from under the dash? Êàòàëîã it might be the regulator-- item 105 has gone rather than the motor? the fan / motor is made by BEHR I am led to believe?
