Hi

It looks like I need to replace the metal fuel lines, both the supply and return, on a W116 1977 280SE. I've never done fuel lines before but understand they come ready made/shaped from the dealership. Albeit at a price!! Over £100 for the supply line alone!

Or is it possible to make new ones up? Out of copper maybe?

Thanks
Norm

Hi,

I wouldnt use copper for fuel lines but any good pipe supplier can make you a set up.

Obviously this involves you taking the old ones off so they can match the length and fittings.

Not sure where you are but here local to us we use a company called Nuneaton Hose & Fittings.

Now remember that some of the pipes at the pump are very specialist with banjo fittings etc and if you need those then its dealer only really.

Thanks Jay.

I'm in the Socttish Border. I'll actually better go and add that into my profile!

Getting the old ones off is proving quite tricky, but I'm sure I'll get there.

I've got new hoses for the pump assembly already from MB.

Cheers
Norm

i suspect on an older Merc the line will no longer come shaped from merc.

i know that they have stopped shaping W124 pipes :(

i'd go for a good hydraulic supplier and get some pipe. Surely the ends of the main pipe that runs under the car has no banjo and is just jubliee-style clips? atleast thats what my diesels are both like

I would use plastic oil feed pipe instead of metal.

Buy it on a roll, cut it, heat it, bend it, fit it...end of.
