Replacing Old for New

The trusty radio /cd player in my W210 does not seem to want to play my home made cd's -and obviously has no ipod interface

Question : If I purchased a fancy new radio/cd player and had it fitted by Halfords - would all the commands on my steering wheel still work ? - ie volume - changing stations, changing cd tracks etc?
