replacing the ali trim around 211 gear selector

It seems very easy to lift the gear selector and surrounding trim off the car but I want to replace the aluminium trim around the gear stick as mine is dented.
Its not going to be easy to find one from an e55 with all the options I have unless its from an e55. But there are plenty on ebay which have the same cutouts.
So how easy is it to dismantle the gear selector unit to replace that piece?
This has the right cutouts

Can't help but I'd hang fire for one from an E55, equivalent or get new.

That would be ideal but I imagine there could be a wait. I doubt the MB price will appeal but you never know.

They are both the same, and both will work for you. No point going to MB for it.

It is so easy to source used parts if you don’t have the Distronic option.

The crome trim easily pops out.
