Replacing the whole mirror assembly on a 313 CDI

Hi, I've got a sprinter 313 CDI both mirrors are smashed so I've bought the whole black assembly including indicators I've taken the whole unit of the door but the connector for the indicator goes into the door frame, I'm not sure if it connects to the electrics on the door or if it goes into the engine? So I'll either need to take the internal plastic door panel off our remove all the tape from the wires entering the engine area? Has anyone had to do this replacement? Or know where the indicator wire connects? Many thanks in advance.
