When I totally fill my 190E the gauge never reads totally full. I know it is because the garage pump cuts off, but the fuel gauge reads just over 3/4 full.

I've also had the needle right down the bottom of the fuel gauge, but the reserve light has never come on.

What I want to know is, does the reserve light have a separate sensor that may have failed, or is my needle just off a bit?

The light does light up with the ignition key in the 1st position, so I know it works.

Yep, i think they are separate, my needle never registers empty but my reserve light works a treat.

As a matter of interest, haw much do you manage to squeeze in the tank from empty?

I managed 58 miles when my reserve light came on a few months ago.

Is that a record? :)

That is the sign of a faulty sender unit, a common fault due to unleaded petrol eroding the contacts. Obviously it is giving you incorrect readings throughout the range.
