As the sun was shining today, i thought i'd have a go of retro fitting new front electric and heated memory seats to my w209 clk.

I already had driver electric seat but wanted heated and electric passenger seat,
I managed to pick up 2 front seats the other day along with the heated seat switch(£300 posted).then went into Mercedes and bought the heated seat loom along with the passenger electric seat loom(£80)

Out came the front seats, kick panels, side trim, passenger door card and under dash trim

fitted the seat operation switches to the door card and refitted the door card(switches just plug into the door controller)

Opened up the cable trays and threaded in the new looms,4 plugs for the seat loom(2 to the base of the seat, 1 to the fuse box and 1 to the network link under the kick panel) and the heating loom, a bit more to it as it goes to both seat bases 4 plugs(1 to each seat, 1 to the switch and 1 to the fuse box.

Refitted all the trim and new seats and they work first time.

All in all it took about 4 hours. unfourtunately i forgot to take pics during the install.

Any questions please ask.:D

What about the steering column and cluster coding ?

Make sure you use replacement seat controllers as the really old ones tend to draw current and drain battery.

The good ones are A211 ..... part number.

Not sure i need any coding as i already have electric mem drivers seat, steering coloum and mirrors, awaiting an answer from Alfie

as for the controllers they start with A211

cheers

what parts are required

Hi, I have just got some electric leather seats for my W209. The pasenger seat is non electric so went straight in. The drivers seat is electric and my car doesnt have electric seats curently. I have fitted the new drivers door card with switch's but there is no loom in the sill to plug the seat into. Can you please advise what parts I will need to get hold of.

Many thanks

Hi,
If you go to your local dealer and tell them you need a loom for the drivers side seat they will be able to help. there are 2 looms depending on whether the seat is fully electric with mem or part electric(switches on the seat) the loom is about £35.

Thanks very much, the drivers seat is fully electric so I have the door card plus there are also switch's on the side of it that I think are for the air pumps for lumber etc. Do you know if i also need to get some sort of control unit or does the loom just connect to the SAN / fuse box and then just plug the seat into the loom? Presumably I will also need to have it coded in?

thanks

the loom plugs into the fuse box on the end of the dash, then into the control unit under the seat. The switch just plugs into the door control unit. Not sure whether you will need coding or not. As for the extra switches i'm not sure what extra you will need as mine never had them.

Thanks for the info. when you mention control unit under the seat is this additional to the wire ports that all clk seats have? The car they came out of didnt have an additional box under the seat, the seat just connected to the loom comming from the sill.

That's the control box, so it should be an easy job. if you scroll through the courtesy options in the dash computor see if you have the easy entry option and memory option for the steering column and seat, if you have i don't think you will need any coding.

Hi,

Can you tell me how I can find the part number for the wiring loom needed for the seats. I have spoken to my local Mercedes parts dept and they say there are 21 different looms and they have no way of telling what one is needed. I offered them the part number of the seat module but they said it wont help. The seats are electric memory from a 2007 w209.

Many thanks.

I have now managed to get my electric driver’s seat in the car buy putting power directly two of the motor pins in order to move the seat to be able to get to the fixing bolts in and then set the seat in position. This is ok for the time being but I would like to get it working correctly.

Login_user you mentioned before that there are 2 different looms. When looking at the part catalogue all the looms for the car show in one screen and Mercedes say they can’t tell what one is the correct one to power the seat control unit. Can you please advise how you knew what one you needed.

Thanks in advance.

Mine was a little easier because it was just the passenger seat. i would imagine you would need the loom with convienience entry. the dealer should be able to help with this.

Thats the problem i'm having, they say that even with a vin number they still dont know what part i need as it shows all the wiring looms for the whole car on 1 page of there parts system. I will keep trying to find the part number other wise i may need to try and build my own loom.

Cheers.

Can't you order the one with the most plugs on it, which should cover it. i'm sure when i ordered mine there where 3 for the drivers side and 2 for the passenger side, If i get a chance i'll drop Richard an email on here with my chasis number and he should be able to find the part number of mine which should work for you.:thumb:

Thanks Login User that would be a great help. I would have thought my local dealer would have been able to do as you have mentioned but they say that every loom for the whole car shows on one page so dont know wich loom is the seat loom. It sounds a little odd but I have now been told the same thing by 2 garages.

I know this is an old thread but I used it as reference when doing a similar retro fit recently so I thought I would post the only important missing bit, the part number for the passenger electric seat loom, the loom that plugs into the seat control unit under the seat, can-bus network link and the front fuse board. Part No. A203 540 60 33 :thumb:
