I've done a search but nothing has exactly answered my question.

I bought my wife a 54 plate C-class estate and spent months trying to find the exact spec. Nothing was available and so we ended up buying the nearest spec to our wishlist. What this car didn't have though, which we wanted, was bi-xenons, but it does have the headlamp levelling and cleaning (that it seems are essential if you want to put in Xenons).

On eBay people are selling original MB Bi-Xenons for the W203 and they suggest they just "plug and play".

Will these work and is it that easy to fit?!

Thanks, in advance.

Richard.

I believe thay are, if you have normal Xenons.

I think the front bumper has to be removed for fitting and I think you might need a dealer visit to have the computer told you have them.

This modification has been done by other forum members so I am sure confirmation will come along soon.....

If you have factory fitted xenons, then the auto level will still work after you retrofitted the bi xenons. I don't think you have to get your car reprogrammed, since it already has factory fitted xenons and has been set to 'xenons present'...

If someone were to retrofit bi xenons in a car with factory fitted halogens, then one definitely needs to get the car reprogrammed through Stardiagnosis. Otherwise the bi xenons will only flicker.

The car currently only has normal headlights and NOT Xenons, hence the wish to add them. I mention Bi-Xenons only as I'm assuming that's the "standard" Xenon offering for this late model C class.

The question really is, should I buy some on eBay (let's assume they're MB parts and new) and will they be easy to fit?

I don't know if you should purchase bi xenons through e-Bay. I myself never buy anything on e-Bay, although my brother does that quite often. And I also know that the parts you bid for, are sometimes not the parts you wanted.

For one thing: I know my brother wanted to get bi xenons, just one side (driver's side Euro spec, I think it was), but ended up with a headlight of which the part number was removed... and he suspects that it is a UK spec headlight he received; not the Euro spec he wanted to get...

If you want to be sure that you get the right bix for your car, you can try to get them from MBenzNL. (www.MBenzNL.com).

As far as installation is concerned: you will have to remove the front bumper before you can start installing. All in all it will take approx. 2 hours.

The auto level will not work, but you can level the headlights manually. And the dealership has to reprogramm your car, of course...

Just for the record, I complete this day an evaluation of the parts needed to retrofit levelling system to a car with Halogens, to be converted to Xenon.

Not to mention that the interior is mostly removed in this process.
