Retrofit Boot Release Switch?

Hi,

Firstly, I'd like to say Hi to all, I'm a new merc owner, and a very pleased one too :bannana: . I expect you'll see me on these forums quite a bit from now on. Actually, I said to myself when I bought this car that I wouldn't start tinkering with it as its a posh merc, but after reading these forums for a week or two, I already have a list of "mods to do"!!

Firstly, I would really like to install the boot release mechanism, I think it was an option, which wasn't added to mine. Anybody know how much of a job this is? I can see it being a pig if the wiring for it isn't already in the loom, but surely its just a solinoid in the boot, switch upfront and bingo?

Also, If anyone knows any part numbers of the components needed, much apreciated.

Can't help with the boot release switch, as mine's an estate, but I'm sure somebody can advise what's needed !

Im sure they changed the boot release mechanism after your car from mechanical to electric.

From what i can remember anyway.

try the 1997 version as well from the drop down boxes.

I thought that the size of the bootlid locks/mechanism were different from the pre-facelift and post-facelift models of the W202? Certainly the bootlids are different. Although the C36 AMG is a bit of a special case since it seems to share parts with both pre and post facelift models.

I'm sure there are posts here that enquire about this mod, not sure if anyone has gone ahead and completed it though.

Well, all sorts! I'd like to retro fit some of the options missing, like rear blind, cup holder. I also fancy the official pedal mod too!

Yes, I've noticed on another thread about fitting post facelift illuminated sun visors to a preface lift w202. My C36 has these already, on both drivers and passenger side!

I have searched for boot realease mod, but I'm still unsure if I need the parts from pre/post facelift...

Both the '96 and '97 models have identical wiring diagrams, both with pnematic control module, right rear of trunk. Thanks for the info. Gonna try and source the parts and some more info on how much wiring is involved!

USA models had a boot-release button in the front from very early on the w202, this is not true for the European models. It is probably possible to simply retrofit the USA parts, which should be available from any stealership.
