Hi, I just got a very cheap 2006 W211 and want to retro fit heated seats to it, doesn't look very expensive but looking through other posts there seems to be two different systems in these cars. What would I need for a 2006 model? What's the processor of fitting them, dash out or just centre console?

Apart from all the phyiscal items, the seats, loom, switchgear etc. You would also need to have the car coded to set them as enabled. Not somthing you can do with a standard diagnostic machine.

I've not seen this mentioned before, is this something you've had to do or are you making an assumption? If so are there any bits of software I can use, for example for my Renault I use DDT4ALL to do all of my coding at home

You would require STAR/Xentry to enable this which from Mercedes is subscription based, knock off versions are available online but please do not discuss them on here :thumb:

Mercedes have virtually everything locked down to the DIY user, more complex than Renaults version (which I am aware of, have a mate with a Megan RS)

You could do a basic setup with one of the kits from eBay but it wouldn’t use the OEM switches. You’d have to be prepared to strip the seats down and run cables.

Yeah I'd like to to look stock, even if I use aftermarket heat pads I'd like to use the original switches
I think that’s where the coding comes in.
