Currently looking at Mercedes
Hi all,
New to this forum as currently looking to buy e class coupe (w207 I presume as will be 2009-11 in my price bracket)

Anyway question is I have seen one advertised but it is not advertised with comand but has audio 20 radio so I wonder whether I can simply buy one of the beckerpilot units and fit that. If so would I be correct in saying that I would need to get it coded and if that's the case anyone know roughly how much this costs as I want to build this into either my budget or price negotiations with the seller.

Look forward to receiving some good comments and also any other tips I should be looking out for.

Cheers

If the car has becker map pilot pre-wire, you can buy one and plug it in. But that was only introduced mid life with the updated NTG4.5 system, and not all cars have the pre-wiring. I think this changed after 2011 though. (or around 2011)

The alternative is to retrofit COMAND - talk to alfie on Mercedes Retrofit Specialist - Comand.co.uk

Check to see if you have the holder for the Becker unit in the glovebox. Right hand side nearest the centre console in a RHD car.

Thanks guys. I've got a feeling this won't be as straight forward as I thought because I think there won't be a gps aerial fitted. Will go see the car though and look for the holder as Stu suggested.

Other thing to check for is whether it has the NAVI buton on the control Panel.
