Hi everyone, my latest video "Retrofitting a Reversing Camera"

(Yes I know I have Eleventeen Chin's) - Note to self, don't film below head height :)

Good video:thumb:
Well explained and filmed and should be a good upgrade for anyone without a fitted camera.
Can you reveal the approx cost of the parts to do this upgrade?

It was around £300 in parts - Plus labour (or if you do it yourself).

Edited price

Great stuff - if/when I sell my car and get my dad's, the only thing missing on it will be the rear cam. I think I'd tackle this myself, but I haven't seen the entire video yet!

Thanks

The routing through the car to the front is making me wonder how much I'd really miss a reversing cam :D

I'm having one installed next week by Comand.co.uk, for those that don't fancy DIY :
Reversing Cameras
Gives you an idea of the cost of having someone else install it!

Edit - thought the fitting was also shown, but the link is supply only, fitting for my S204 adds about £100 to the cost.

July 2008, Comand NTG4 - which means the small HDD nav partition that will only accept updates to 2014-15 V12 - another problem comand.co.uk will fix next week. That's not cheap, but to us the car is a keeper so I'm spending a chunk of the profit from my 968 cab getting them to fix the HDD, also fit reversing camera and front parking sensors.

You know what I admire most about Karl’s videos is that he just gets stuck in and figures it out. I’d like to think I might be able to do some of the simpler stuff but I’m simply too nervous of breaking something. Hats off to you Karl! Great job as always!

Thanks for the comment! - Yeah, I find it best to get stuck in and worry about issues when they happen.

I think £100 for a professional install is a very reasonable amount.

great vid!

Thanks :)

After having it fitted for over 6 months now, I can confirm that having a camera lense exposed to the elements rather than hidden away (like the new models) isnt a good idea. - its forever dirty.

I agree, Karl, it's a pain in the rear!

When I had my E63's I adopted the habit of licking my thumb and wiping it over the camera lens every time I opened the boot :)

Haha, some wax or sealant definitely helps, but those new ones that come out then pop back in are indeed a great idea!

(Unless you buy a car with one in 10 years and the motor breaks :p)
