Retrofitting COMAND, LCD cluster and M/f wheel in a 2009 Sprinter

You need NTSC. Since we haven't got an idea as to what camera you are buying we can't tell you if it will work.

PAL and NTSC colour encoding is different, so if a camera can be set to both then it will have a switch / link to switch it between Pal and NTSC

CGW -
(A) theres a wiring loom needed as it needs power, CANbus and to be connected to the diagnostic socket
(B) there are retrofit instructions in WIS
(C) I have one on a test loom that I plug into Vito diagnostic socket and CANbus in order to code COMANDs on Vitos without. - however I used to do that on NTG2 cars, and I don't know for 100% whether NTG2.5 needs the CGW there all the time in order to operate.
(D) Some vitos need new other things replaced in order to be able talk to NTG2.5 units

Thanks for the reply Richard.

This is the camera I am looking to buy:

I have contacted the seller asking if they had a NTSC version, and I got a reply saying the camera is PAL/NTSC. So I am not sure if it is compatible.

Made an enquiry regarding CGW with my dealer but they are still not sure if they can code it. Is a CGW needed to retrofit the multifunction wheel and LCD cluster?

There are better cameras than that on ebay that replace the number plate light and are NTSC.
This is the same as mine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-CCD-...5?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3cc4b4639b

Problem is the light fitting or lack of it, you need a 16mm round cap less bulb holder.

This is the same as mine Sony CCD Sensor Car Rear View Reverse CAMERA for Mercedes-Benz Vito Viano #US | eBay

The rear number plate on the Sprinter is mounted very low on the left hand door, so I am not sure if a number plate light camera would provide a good view on the screen.

Any pics of your Vito's reversing camera?

I can see its low but it would be fine, you only need to see the bumper.

I think the camera will fit and the bulb holder is the same as i used from the same place!
It needs a tweak but fits fine.

Just thought I'd update the thread, retrofitted NTG2.5 in my Sprinter a few weeks ago. So far everything works fine, allthough I suspect I need a GPS antenna as comand sometimes fails to recognise any satellites.

Will be getting the reverse camera fitted soon, just been very busy over the past couple of weeks.

hi ya retro fitting ntg 2.5 do you know where the canbus is located for the power connection for the ntg?

Comand doesnt take power from the CANBUS. The Canbus distributor in a sprinter/vito is behind the headlamp switch in a bag cable tied to the dash!
