I have a 190 2.5-16 Cosworth, with 140k.
After driving it a bit harder than normal due to a petrol tratment addative-any excuse really, the Rev Counter needle was being worked a little more than normal.
A couple of stuttering sweeps then it just fell onto the stop, reading '0'.
Is this a electric 'wire' or fuse issue, or maybe a thought; a magnet device behind the dial?
Anyone know the cause/repair?
thanks for all feedback chaps,
Chris

I have taken the dials out of my 190( and replaced the normal ones with plasma dials) it is quite easy to get at,
it does help if you have a haynes manual tho,
Im not sure if there is a fuse but im sure it is a small plug behind the dial it my have come off or loose my one was a bit temperamental after i replaced it but it some times just needed a wiggle then it worked again.

Thanks for that Ian,
I was wondering if anyone could help. I will dig out the manual and have a go, thanks again, Chris

Rev counters are really just voltmeters that pick up the voltage from the negative/switched side of the coil.

It is likely to be a poor connection somewhere.

If you havent taken out your rev counter dial yet have a look at ( 190e OTG TAXI CONSOLE REMOVAL ) it may be of some help to you.
