Has anyone replaced a speedo cable on a RHD W124 before? The write ups say tie the new cable to the old one and pull the new one through as you pull the old one out, but they all seem to be LHD. Does it work the same for RHD?

Also how difficult would it be to run the cable without the old one in place? As my cable is NLA ideally I’d take the old one out, send it to a custom cable maker and have them send me a brand new one which I’d refit. Please don’t be a dash out job… 🤞

I've never tried to pull the new one through with the old one, but on a RHD it goes behind the heater core so wont be easy.

If you remove the instrument cluster and the glove box/airbag it's not that bad to change, just make sure you leave enough slack at the top to screw it back on to the cluster.

Has yours snapped or is it slipping?

I assume the internal cable has snapped as it’s not turning while I drive (took the dash out to check).

Speedo in the dash works fine when manually turned.

I figured I’d replace the cable first before worrying about whether it’s the gearbox.
