Richer Sounds vs John Lewis??

Fair point re the lightning strike.

I had one myself a decade ago, but my house insurance picked up the whole bill for all the kit....

It's a bit creative to call it a warranty claim...

.

I'd call it a warranty claim. I called RS and said the TV had stopped working and they did the rest no questions asked.

Virgin gave me a new set top box the following day which was great - again no questions asked.

I still had to pay for a new AV receiver amp and alarm unit. And a few LED light transformers.

So I was grateful for the service from the two suppliers who stumped up.

After the event now for the OP, but I was umming and a arring between these two Panasonics. I went in to my local, easier to park Richer Sounds, as JL are the same price, but only do a 5 year warranty (the 6th year at Richer is added on by Panasonic itself once you've registered your purchase). As the extra £300 is pretty much for a sound bar, I showed an interest in the cheaper model to be told that they were price matching a competitor and it would be an additional £270 less. SOLD! I paid £1229 and picked it up on new year's eve, (I reckon at least two people could sleep in the box!). I don't know who the competitor is, but would JL have volunteered this?

Just a big shout out for Richer sounds. 👍

We bought a Samsung 49” Curved TV in December 2015 and in the last few weeks the picture is really bright on the left hand extreme edge of the screen. Also it’s fairly hot in that area. I emailed the customer services team last night with a description of the issue together with a few images. Just received a phone call. Service appointment booked in for Tuesday morning. If a replacement screen is not cost efficient a brand new alternative will be offered.

Fab service once again from Richer Sounds. 👏👏👏

I bought a 50” Samsung

Ive always like Samsung and currently have 3 of their TVs.

A few weeks out of the 2 year warranty the 50” developed problems. I had not purchased an extended warranty. After just two years of use I expected Samsung to stand behind their product and at least repair it. They told me to get stuffed.

The end of my allegiance to Samsung.

Richer Sounds have always been great with their customer service.

Over twenty years ago, a friend of mine was messing around with my hi-fi system, playing quite loud etc. My new £250 speakers, one of the tweeters stopped working shortly afterwards...

Richer sounds fixed them FoC.

Have bought from them every few years since. This time last year, one of our kids knocked a drink over and our Virgin media box died, and soon after the A/V receiver was having problems. Couldn’t see any fluid on it, but it was literally a few weeks inside the 5-year supercare warranty. Dropped it off to our local branch, they gave us a loan one, sent the other one of for repair. Came back a few weeks later as good as new.

Can’t argue with that.

The fact their pricing is keen is a bonus. They’re a great company and really look after their customers (and staff - have a read up on them :thumb:)

That’s great service 👍🏻

How much was the TV?

You could take that further under your statutory rights if the cost was high enough.

I must have contributed to that record then as I bought a few HiFi separates from that store in 1993.

I've used both JLP and RS and been very happy with both. Had positive experience with warranty claims through both as well.
Personally, I would go RS first because I like the founder's philosophy and the way he supports his staff. Not suggested anything negative about JLP in that.

As above.

Both are reputable shops with good service, my decision would be based on price and availability.

TV cost about £500. To exercise my statutory rights via the seller i would need to pay for a report from an electronics repair shop. This would mean getting it to them, shipping etc. The hassle just isn’t worth it. I live in the Yorkshire Dales I bought the TV mail order from down South.

My first 42” Samsung TV developed a power supply fault after 5 years. Samsung visited my home and repaired the TV at no cost to me. This created my brand loyalty.

Since Samsung had their problems with their self combusting smart phones, they have had to tighten their belts to cover the vast losses they incurred. Their after sales support has suffered.

Hmm yeah, not worth it on a £500 TV after 2 years.

John Lewis if you want quality service from delivery to claim. Richer Sounds is what it is: a discount specialist.
Richer Sounds micht BE a discounter - but they don't BEHAVE like a discounter.

RS Liverpool was my choice for our current TV - there was on street parking outside. I arrived about ten minutes before the store closed due to unexpectedly heavy traffic, but there was no rush, plenty of time to choose and excellent advice regarding a soundbar. They even knew the dimensions of my car (seats down) to reassure me that it would fit, and helped carry it to my car.

Excellent service - I would wholeheartedly recommend Richer Sounds.

I bought my new Sony OLED from Hughes. They were very good too.

Yep, big shout out to Richer Sounds and Samsung TV’s - had them for years. I do not stick to them exclusively though. Thinking about it, our last 85” tv came from curry’s because they were doing interest free deals.

I’ve had one tv repaired under warranty but had to take it to be repaired - it happens.

also, Sevenoaks hifi are good, and supplied our excellent Sonos equipment.

Had a phone call from RS’s today. They explained it isn’t cost effective to replace the screen on our tele. It’s coming up to 6 years old now.

They have offered a brand new 50” replacement which is QLED (our old one was not) and it has all the latest apps on including Apple TV with Apple Play (so can auto connect all HomePods. 🥳)

If we want to upgrade to an even better model we can just pay the difference. I accepted their suggested TV and it’s due tomorrow. Same 6 year warranty too. Amazing service from them. 👏👏👏
