I think on a motorbike it looks ok, maybe not so good on a car.

Rim Tapes are normally used in the well of the wheel to cover the ends of the Spokes on Spoked /Wire Wheels. they are there to protect the Inner Tube from rubbing on the ends of the Spokes and puncturing.

+1 but I think these ones cover the edge of the tyre where the wheel joins.

I think (having seen them) that they are to decorate the rim...to give a go-faster stripe on the edge of the wheel just inside the outer rim. They'd work well on a black wheel.
