Very Impressed, thanks for the info. :thumb:

They could easily do 4000+ wheels a day if they have the refinishing contract for Land Rover / Jaguar at their Coventry plant.

I know that the supplied rims undergo a finishing process so that could easily cover the numbers.

Public work will be the icing on the cake for them.

I'm amazed that they would guarantee the diamond cut for 12 months. Everywhere I've asked previously, the best I could find was 6months.

The competition are all made to look very amateur by Rimstock. Nobody else can match the level of investment required to purchase the equipment to do the job consistently well.

They use an acrylic topcoat > someone else will be able to clarify the issues of using acrylics in the same building as other paint products > there are issues that are very expensive to sort.

Thanks for the post. The wheels look superb and the price is excellent. I have been looking for somewhere to do my wheels and you have answered my question.

They look absolutely fantastic.
4000 wheels a day sounds amazing.
Even the logistics of handling and controlling the process and batching is mind-blowing.

Yes Poorboys is highly recommended.

+1
Although I have just phoned them and the guy I need to speak with isn't in but will be back tomorrow, which sounded a bit odd for such an obviously large operation

Cracking job. Thank you for posting. They look great and that is very good value. I have the original AMG's fopr the E55 and was quoted £117.50 per rim just to paint them.

Nice one

Marc

Lastly - are they really doing 4000-5000 wheels per day? That's well over 1 million wheels per year (?) - and obviously they'd be making an absolute fortune.

That's almost uncomprehendable for the refurb business!

Will

Cough!

Posting with my hands up.

Will is correct.

Quote from an email from Matt at Rimstoc below.

"Ive just seen your thread, that’s great thanks very much. Although there is one part that isn’t quite spot on we manufacture approx 4000-5000 wheels per week and refurbish approx 500+. I would like to be able to say that we are refurbishing that many in a couple of yrs time though."

So apollogies if I have mislead anyone.

The plant was noisy (and hot) and I'm sure I heared the refurb figure correctly and did ask for a repeat answer.

Oh well..

Ringway, you want to get your ears cleaned out.

I SAID, YOU WANT TO... never mind.

Nice wheels by the way. Stunning finish. Hope you're not going to put them back on the car and get them all dirty again.

Lol! I heared that!

We were in the refurb plant and I asked "how many wheels do you do?" I heared the answer 4000 - 5000 and asked again and got the same answer. Given the mass automation and systems in place, that figure did seem credible.

Hopefully no dirt build up when back on the car. I've taken the tip from Will and bought some Poorboys Wheel Sealant. :thumb:

The wheels are spun on a lathe. Around 1mm is removed (depending on how deep the corrosion is). They know how much is a dangerous amount to remove, so no worries on that score.

Hi ringway, do you know if they can do anything with Chrome wheels?

regards

I expect you're going to be using the excuse. " I didn't clean my car because I wanted my nice wheels to stand out "

They do look stunning - nice job:thumb:

Ringway thats a great looking finish. Last year I used The Wheel Specialist cost £245.00 or so and the overall finish was poor. I took a big knock when I sold them on. Very interested in that sevice especialy as they can provide slave wheels they are about an hours drive from me.

Thanks for the comments Guy's.

I've spent today polishing and sealing the wheels, although up to now I've only managed to complete two of them.

I'm running out of elbow grease but a nice drop of splosh later on may give me the desired impetus. :)

Just read this post from beginning to end. Your wheels look amazing. I need to get mine done soon!
