Ring Smartcharge fault code - R230 rear battery

Learned gentlemen, my SL is SORNed for the winter. I have a Ring Smartcharge RSC 612. After 36 hours connected to the rear battery in maintenance mode, it showed Fault code F05. The following is from the user manual:

"F05 Detail: Does not enter float stage within 24 hours
Reason : Charge current too low (it was actually 0.8 Amps at start)
OR Load may be connected to battery
OR Battery may be defective (it looks quite recent but I bought the car only in June.)
Action: Disconnect
OR Reconnect and select a higher charging rate
OR Disconnect load from battery
OR Replace battery"

When I disconnected the charger, the battery voltage was 12.6.
I assume that the rear battery is under a very small load constantly. Is the fault code just a software glitch for this charger or do I need to do something different such as setting it in normal charge mode say once a month during winter?

Have you checked the fluid levels in the battery?

I had a similar error on my optimate charger telling me the battery was duff but it just needed a few cells topping up

It's the sealed forever type.
