I only met him once, but designer Tony Southgate was a close friend and would phone him regularly for advice or a suppliers name, all of which given freely with vast experience.
If my hero Jim Clark was impressed, then he really was great. RIP Dan Gurney
His name has been on the vast majority of race car set-up sheets I have ever written...in the form of 'Gurney Flap'
