I remember he lost his son back in 2009 although at least it was doing something he loved to do. Very sad.

I think it was his grandson he lost. Very sad indeed!

It was his Son (Henry) who died at just 19 years old in a freak accident at Brands Hatch........................would love to think they are now reunited!

Yeah, I was conscious of that gap. I guess he had the pedal to the metal in more ways that one...

He was a great racing man,he was superb when winning the world championship on his motor bikes,so many of the latest champions run a mile from the TT he won it 15 times,that takes real guts,it is one double that will never be equaled both world championships.

I went to his house once a few years ago. His wife is a fair bit younger than John was. A lovely man, proper gentleman will be sorely missed RIP
