Heavy drinking and smoking: the occupational hazard of that trade and era.

I toured HM Submarine Ocelot last week. Sixty nine men tightly packed into a cold war submarine in the 1960's-1980's for 2-3 months at a time. Apparently it stank of cigarettes, sweat, dirty clothes and diesel. Seems unbelievable today.
