I made the mistake of taking my C220 Cdi (99) into a main dealer. It cost me £135.00 to have a headlamp adjusted and to be told that I needed to replace an injector. I took the car away from them not wishing to have to sell my house to pay their stupid prices and went to an injector specialist, who removed all the injectors and had them tested. Guess what! nothing wrong with them. One of them just needed to be re-seated. By the way they also told me that my brake discs needed replacing and that I had excessive wear on ball joints. Total they would charge for this £850.00. Needless to say I had the car checked elswhere and was told all was ok. What a bunch of cowboys.:bannana: :bannana:

I Agree!

Have the C22CDI (99) Sport. Some Vectra with NO ABS hit the rear of mine yesterday! I will pay cash... he said... young child driving dady's car. Damaged rear bumper ONLY thank goodness. (Small crease only). Merc stealer recommended body shop repair shop quoted only 500 big ones for new back bumper and spray. "pick a number... any number from 500 and upward". **ck the "I will pay cash" I think not... the guy could be dead tomorrow and where would I be? Guess the perseption is is if you own a Merc.. you obviously can afford it!!!

You neglected to tell us which stealership, so we know to avoid! :)

I hope it's over Norfolk way ..... as I'm hitting Purslows tomorrow [to investigate gearbox problems] and I'd hate it to be them.

Similar thing happened to me recently but mine was a hit and run. Local Land Rover dealer in Peterborough is the authorised Merc bodyshop in this area and they quoted around £500 for a new bumper and spray too.

Sorry forgot to mention the name. It's Robinsons of Norwich

Same old main dealer story isn't it?

A very good description of main dealer attitudes judging from all the posts I read... 'hit and run'
