road angel alerts

I used to use Garmin Nuvi with pocket GPS database downloaded...since having had COMAND I of course no longer use the Garmin but was considering the Novus range of camera locators or the Pogo or I believe the Snooper range - any one have any experience of these - non sat nav versions as I dont want two women telling me what to do ...:D
With the Garmin you haave a choice of several male and several female voices. Nuvi 660.

Gosh.. a man and a woman arguing....turn right no turn left....where will it all end...:D

I 'think' it may have save my bacon once. In the dark, on the A3, it started beeping wildly. I was only doing 70, but slowed as a precaution ;) . Sure enough, up ahead on the hard shoulder was a dark blue Volvo estate, with someone leaning on the roof holding what looked like a hair-drier  .

I'm not so sure.....

It was probably only trying to warn you that there was a 'Volvo owner up ahead using a hair dryer!' :D

I had a Road Angel Plus which was quite good, but decided to trade in for the Road Angel 7000. It does the same as the RA+ except no laser information if a laser is pointing directly at you. It also has full UK maps and navigation with Post Codes etc. It has all the camera information, it warns you of known sites where the vans can be found. It seems to work very well, my only complaint is that the battery does not last eight hours as suggested by RA. There comment is to turn down the back light and the sound - so how will I hear the alerts. So I just leave it plugged into the cigar socket all the time.

And can you update it regularly on your computer -like the Garmin- as the mobile sites keep moving?

It can be updated through the computer or bluetooth. It comes with an in car charger, mains charger and USB cable. I update it about once a week. You can also add new camera locations. When you next update these are added to the database.

Ok thanks. Much the same as the Garmin.
