Hi Guys,

When driving say over 40 mph i tend to get a lot of wind or road noise comming from the left hand door.

Seals are ok with the window shutting tight underneath the the seals of my coupe.

driver side not a sound.

whilst driving the other day i tilted the front passenger seat fwd to try and hear where it was comming from. it sounds as though its comming from the bottom left hand corner of the door. (basically where the sill meets the curved edge of the door.

ive heard about adjusting the door, however when the door is shut the lines or gaps of the door or line up perfectly and doesn't look out of place?

or could it be the seals? :dk:

The front glass have some seals each side on the outside, just check if your pass one is missing

dw124! that made me laugh out loud in the office! i was thinking about the box at the weekend actualy!

do you think it will look good with the standard bumper. i think ill have to get the trim cut to make the exit pipes fit flush.

Grober..thanks for that link, top site, i'm going to check this tonight, it could very well be this...

Since the pipes bend,I don`t think you`ll need to cut anything
You could drive down to mine one sun and I`ll put it on for you,if you don`t like it I`ll take it of again no problem

humm sounds like a good idea.. i dont want to inconveinence you, to just see how it looks.. how would the job take?

about the cut outs i mean the amount of space available for the pipes. there is the half oval shape cut out currently to fit the single exit pipe but might need modding to fit two?

It should be fine without cutting anything and i`ll take about 30min to do

dont you think rectangular pipes look better on a 124?

Well, yes the AMG ones however the "AMG style" If available aftermarket do Sebring make rectangular pipes?

I know what you mean though i.e. they will stick out from the rear bumper too much. however, personally even with the Body kit I still think the AMG exaust sticks out too much. i'm all about the flush fit!

They do but not on mercedes ones.I do love the AMG tailpipes but the AMG backbox is just a bit to quiet for my liking, hence I`ve got remus on my car

You can buy an AMG backbox but is not cheap AMG Auspuff Auspuffanlage Endschalldämpfer W124 E Klass bei eBay.de: Sportauspuffe (endet 30.10.10 16:34:44 MESZ)

..thats another thing, i dont want a noisy box, just a slight purr when driving off!? and that sight of two lightly smoking tail pipes on a chilly sunday morning with bright sunshine.

no wadda mean?:)

I don`t mean a boyracer sound,I just mean a bit better than the AMG one

I think i'm going to have to come and look at your's...

i have looked at the door seals mentioned by Grober, but it looks all ok. firmly in place and the rubbers looks good.

any more ideas anyone?

hi
have you checked the doors are aligned yet?
I had to to reset both the passenger side door on my 300TD, well over a mil gap on both doors, get a piece of paper and see if it clamps with the door shut, all the way round - made an enormous difference on mine

cheers
balge

Hi Balge,

i'm veering towards thnking it could very well be the door adjusment properties.

The LH door makes two clicking sounds when opening! Tuk Tuk sound.

i'm not going to attempt this adjusment myself as i do not have the resources available + the coupe door is too heavy for a one man job.

would any bodyshop be able to carry out the proper adjustment?
