Ronaldo's Ferrari

But to be honest i'd say that regardless of how old you are very few people have the experience of driving a Ferrari so to say that its down to his age is utter horse do-do, you could be 43 and still have no experience of driving a Ferrari or 63 and have no experience of driving a Ferrari.

In his defence someone who relys on exceptional hand/eye/touch co-ordination is probably better equipped than someone who sits at a keyboard all day.

Only one I can think of lives a couple of doors down from me, but he prefers MB/Mclaren's !

Yeah and he stuffed his car into the back of another at a set of lights

The fact is powerful cars are very challenging to drive at any age thats why most people park theirs up over winter

I disagree.
The longer you have driven, the greater the knowledge base you have at your disposal.
Put somebody of good driving skills who has 20 or 40 years driving experience under their belt behind the wheel of a Ferrari and more than likely that "accident" would not have happened.
So age is a factor.
Add to the fact that the man has so much disposable income his true appreciation of the value of the car is diminished and as such might not use it with the reverence or respect most normal owners would.
Its just a guess, but I bet he has already said to friends that he will order another or something similar to ASAP.
Lets wait and see what the police enquires reveal.

Two young lads,

One in a Ferrari and one in a Bently GT speed.

Tell me these two were not having a ago...

Either way At least no one was hurt ans another weeks sallary will buy him a new one.

Number of years driven has nothing to do with skill as a driver.

Your use of 'somebody with good driving skills' isn't really applicable as they will be in the minority as the vast majority of people use cars only as a method of transport with little or no understanding of how cars work or how to drive them well. For example the number of cars in the middle lane of a motorway, most of them willl be middle aged.

Can't agree with any of that. When I was 23 I had brilliant hand/eye/touch coordination, I was fit, sharp-minded and as a result I was undoubtedly one of the best drivers of my generation. As a result, I drove my Vauxhall Cavalier absolutely flat-out everywhere as was my right as a driving wizard. In fact, I was a genius driver.

Now I am 44, I realise that I was a typical arrogant, over-confident idiot who - thankfully - never had a major accident that hurt someone else or damaged anybody's property, but that was purely luck, not skill (still managed to wrap a car round a lampost, though).

Natuarally, there are young people who are great drivers (Hamilton is one) but driving on the public road is much more about the benefits of experience and wisdom of caution - both of which only come with age - than about coordination and reaction times.

As VeryTallDave says, putting all that boyish enthusiasm into a Ford Focus is a different matter to putting it into a Ferrari.

WRONG........

However, having driven for 40 years does not automatically make you a good or skillful driver either.
But what it does do is give you the knowledge base that you can then either choose to use........or not as the case may be.
If you choose to use that knowledge, then you will be relatively be a better driver.
If not.................

Wow, you are being very kind to Edwin Van de Sar - He was 38 in October!

Its all relative ! ! ! ! !
38 is young to me as well..............

Rubbish. As a former driving instructor who did a lot of private work with fleet drivers i can assure you i speak from experience.

See, that extra age is why he didn't crash ;) :D

Still two team-mates driving to training together in brand new high-performance cars :)

The incident happened at 10.20am close to his luxury home in Cheshire as he was driving through a tunnel, notorious among boy racers, under Manchester Airport.

Why is it on the internet people feel that they can get away with shouting WRONG at someone else like thats the correct thing to do, would you REALLY do that in real life??

You may choose to disagree but experience, ability and not age have more to do with being a skilful driver , just because he had an accident you are in no position to judge whether he is a skilful driver or not, Ronaldo may spend a great deal of time driving high performance cars around a track he may well be a driving god , who simply made a mistake

It doesnt matter how old you are age does not provide you with automatic experience or make you drive well, look at the Top Gear "Star in a reasonably priced car" didnt Terry Wogan do well

Age however does seem to provide certain people with a similar arrogance to teenagers you tend to find the most aggressive drivers on the road are between 40 and 50 , they are the "You cant tell me anything i've been driving for 30 years" types

What was the tempreture that morning? minus something perhaps?

The road condition was fine.
I live 3 miles from the accident and drove through the tunnels 10 minutes after it happend.

The will grit that road and the tunnels for sure because it is the main road to and from the airport/Wilmslow.

It is tempting to Gran Turismo through those tunnels though;)

definatly minus and definatly in a tunnel , anyone remeber the Russian tunnel video that did the rounds ???

I drove through the tunnel 10 minutes after the accident and the road condition was fine.

I live 3 miles from the accident spot and drove through the tunnel past the Ferrari 10 minutes after the accident.
That road is always well gritted.

As I would suspect are Sir Alex Ferguson's teeth at the moment!
