Getting roof bars for my Shooting Brake. Does anyone know if the Thule ones screw into the proper mounts on the car or do they clip in elsewhere. Torn between the OEM parts and Thule, anyone have experience of them and the bike racks? Thanks.

I bought from The Roofbox Company, very good website with lots of info.
I went for the Whisper Bars, recommended.

Thanks, had a good look around that website previously. Trying to figure out how they attach. Wanted some that screwed into the proper mounting points but the video doesn't seem to show that.

AFAIK OEM roof system is from Thule, just rebranded MB...

Have a look at the Thule website, select your car and desired system and download the fitting instructions.

From what I can see they bolt into the factory fitted mounts

I have Thule bars and bike racks on my A45. The bars locate in the designed holes in the roof and Thule have a wide range of feet to match the bars to your specific car so no they don't clip on elsewhere. The bike racks are very good. Usual fun putting them together but hold the bike really well. I only went for the basic ones as I'm not using them every week and they are fine.

Thanks for all the above. Appreciate the assistance. Thule it is.

I've got genuine MB roof bars and 1 genuine MB cycle holder but Thule cycle holders will slide into my MB roof bars no problem (and vice versa - my MB cycle holder works with Thule roof bars). Handy if you have friends with other car marques.

Went for Thule Wing bars and bike racks from roofbox.co.uk. Very impressed by roofbox, they do a lock match service so you only need one key for, in my case, 12 locks.

I went for the Whispbars too, on my E-Class estate; so quiet and streamlined, I never take them off. Also easy to slide my Thule bike carriers into the T-slots.

Also bear in mind that a lot of Halfords products are made for them by Thule , only you can save by not paying the premium for the Thule branding .

I have both Thule and Halfords roof bars and cycle carriers - badge engineered versions of the same products . The Exodus boxes which Halfords sell are also very good .
