Roof box

Any opinions on loss of fuel consumption when a roof box is added to a W205 Estate

Depends how fast you go. Obviously the faster the greater the effect. I noticed between 5 and 10mpg difference

I'd say about 10% increase in fuel consumption may be expected at100km/h and hardly noticeable below 60km/h.

I never noticed any difference with my S203 C270 and a Halfords Exodus 470L box .

Nor with various roof loads on my W123 and 124 estates .

I really want a roof box for my w205, we need more luggage space and it's cheaper than a new car, what bars do people reccomend and how easy are they to take off and put on?

Thule work well and were what used with my W205. 15min job to put bars and box on though you need a helper to get the box on n

I have Thule Wingbars which are more silent than previous MB branded ones. Used them on both W211 and S212 and once you position them to have same overhangs on both sides you just need to lock them. (Write down the measures so you have them for future reference). Easy job really. For box you’ll need an extra two pair of hands.
Re boxes look for the ones that can be opened on both sides, helps with loading/unloading. Keep in mind that the roof box shouldn’t be much longer than the roof. I have Kamei Corvara 510 and it’s absolutely fantastic, both in size and quality.
