HOLY 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko ! Batman. Yes today is when the European Space Agency attempts to re-awaken the Rosetta probe which has been in hibernation mode since June 2011. Its due to rendezvous, go into orbit round, characterise and even land on comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko later this year some 10 years after its launch from earth. It's all a big ask but just like the Rosetta stone before it could be a vital key to understanding our solar system and even how life started on earth.Rosetta (spacecraft) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I hope all the guys in Mission control are wearing their Indiana Jones Hats for this one. This could turn out to be the Planetary science Ark of the Covenant.

Controllers at the European Space Agency's (Esa) operations centre in Darmstadt, Germany, do not know precisely when Monday's all-important contact will be made, but they anticipate their consoles lighting up sometime between 17:30 and 18:30 GMT.
First contact is likely to come through the US space agency's 70m Goldstone radio dish in California.
