Good evening,

I have a 2004 S500 (W220) and my front brake rotors are shot.

I ordered a pair of ATE front rotors with dimension 312 x28 mm.

The mechanic found that the new rotors are slightly smaller in diameter than the Old ones and said that they won't fit with the existing calipers/brake pads.

Please refer to image for the comparison between old and new rotors. Am totally confused because I believe that I ordered the rotors with the correct part numbers (220-421-09-12).

Would really appreciate if someone could advise if i ordered the correct parts.

Thanks

Is that a 5.5 litre s class ?

I tried ecp for a x ref. But dont see that model. Try putting your reg in and see what it throws up.

Actually I have the choice between 330mm and 312mm rotors. Would be great if anyone could confirm the correct size for w220.

From my research, the facelift version has the 312mm rotors. What I find funny is that I have the facelift S-class but has 330mm rotors. Totally confused

All I can tell you is that A 2204210912 is the part no for the smaller 280/320 V6 engined models and not the V8.
There was a disc change after a certain chassis no but within that spec there is an "exception year " [ perhaps a supplier shortage] meaning an exact chassis no is required

However----if the car has the AMG performance package it has different discs and calipers
option 30 in which case the disc part no is A2204211112 at 345 mm diameter

Hey. Thanks for helping me out.

My car is the long wheel base version and does not have the AMG kit. It has the basic bumpers, etc.

Is there any way that I can confirm the correct part number? I tried several VIN decoders but they do not provide information on braking system...

I have used ilcats.ru. They do provide diagrams and parts reference. But they do not tell the specific brakes that were fitted on my car from factory.... So am not sure which parts reference is correct

post up your VIN and will see what the official EPC says?

According to the official EPC by chassis no reference your disc should be A2204212512 ----330mm
whereas the part you got was A2204210912-----312mm

TEXTAR/ ATE make aftermarket versions
