Afternoon, Recently purchased a C180 (w203) 2.0 Auto and on startup it is rough and lumpy, Sounds like the manifold or exhaust is blowing, I have to run it at 1500rpm for approx 20 seconds when cold, then if i release the accelerator after the 20 seconds or so it will run quiet and normal. Im new to mercedes this is my first one so can anybody tell me anything? Thanks alot. Pillabenz.
thats normal on that engine (assuming its pre 2003ish)- It should sound rough but not actually run rough if that makes sense..
Something to do with a flap in the exhaust to heat up the cats quicker IIRC.

im glad you asked that question, i have owned mine for 12 months and it does the same but dont have to rev it,the noise stops instantly after about 30 seconds.
