Just installed a s/hand Netgear DG8340 ADSL router.

1/ Is it supposed to get noticibly warm during operation?

2/ If I shut the laptop down in hibernate mode (ie, just shut the lid) the wifi connection takes quite a while to recognise. If I shut it down using >start>turn off> when I restart it the connection is almost instant.
Is this something I must live with? It didn't differentiate with the old router ( 2wire)

Ta.

1/ Not sure its supposed to, but mine does!
2/ I find the same with my netbook, not too bothered about it, but I wonder if its possibly a security setting on the laptop to disconnect from the connection if idle / sleep mode?

Sorry cant be definative.

both these issues are normal..... well i get them anyway

Thanks guys. Not Vista....XP:bannana:

Wifi from standby is normal, when you cold start the network adaptor is started well before the login screen so it has time to acquire a network and network address before you sign in or the desktop appears.

Getting warm - they all do that sir.
