Rover 75?

Here's a Roewe 750E....

And here's a Maybach 57

I don't think much of the "full description" in the Auto Trader advert mentioned above, apart from the 20" alloy upgrade, I don't find anything out of the ordinary in a say top spec Mondeo, let alone a £100,000 car. :)

Rover 75, Jag S-Type and now Maybach 57 are all children separated at birth

Hey Alan, you left your post code in.

Agree- and top spec Rover 75Conns SE HL Nav would appear to be even better specced:crazy:

Or just get a long wheelbase 75.

I ran a 75 for a couple of years, an early BMW Oxford one, and it was a nice car let down by reliability issues. The 2.0V6 was a lovely engine too, super smooth but needed lots of revs.

I'd rather a Maybach than a Phantom, it's less shouty and more German.

Coincidentally I had a 75 for three weeks with the 2.0 V6 and an auto box.

It was a nicer vehicle than I expected it to be. (refined rather than dynamic).

I concur that the engine, while smooth, was gutless low down and the match-up with the auto box was one of the worst I have encountered.

I'd like to be in the position to choose.

Yes indeed. Although if I had £300k to spend on cars I'd buy neither. I could buy 5 or 6 cars that I really like and have a car for everything I could ever need.

Mine was manual... Still to this day one of the best cars I'd owned for doing long distances in, suspension tuning (on 16" wheels) was just perfect in UK and across europe and it would sit at 100-110 mph as well as the Volvo and Mercedes that followed it. And the interior was a nice place to be too.

The people in my experience who are in this market tend to have many other cars too, but yes like you I wouldn't drop large money into one. The maybach drives like a big 220 S Class and contains most of the same switchgear. Only the Phantom gives you a sense of occasion in keeping with price. The maybach is more comfy though.

Both are not intended to be driven - that is the job of the hired hand.
