Something like that going by the intake tube.Looks well kept.Have they been squirting in the Easy Start?
...'cause he imported it from Japan? He didn't spec it.Wonder why Mr. Rowan couldn't afford the full leather interior on his both 500's?
An E500/500E should have had full leather interior as a factory standard otherwise it looked a bit cheap with semi leather/cloth seats.
The 500 was the best and should have had the very best exclusive factory options delivered, sadly it didn't!![]()
Back then, even on posh cars you had the choice of leather or something else, and I seem to recall that velour was a cost option on the S-class in the 1970s, because it was seen to be a luxury - I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will confirm.Wonder why Mr. Rowan couldn't afford the full leather interior on his both 500's?

My old Beemer 525 had full grey cloth interior. Warm in winter and cold in summer. No sliding around in corners. Sold it at 90k miles and it was still very acceptable; at least as good as leather.
Mine was 1997.I've always preferred cloth to leather but the best seats are not normally available in cloth.
I'm pretty sure I read that in olden days, leather was up front to be kept clean by the coach driver and the cloth was the premium option in the back... which has somehow translated into leather being premium.
I had a 1985 525e with the same... probably similar seats if you are talking E28 vintage.
I would be chuffed to bits if you could get a sporty V8 Mercedes without full leather.

Now though, posh cars are much more limited - there may be a choice of leathers, but there’s very very rarely a non-leather option. I would be chuffed to bits if you could get a sporty V8 Mercedes without full leather.
