Lovely collection he has there :) tell me more about the series one RS Turbo, any pictures of it ;)

Do you think so? I don't know the market but it has to be right at the top end if it is as described

As they say "Find another one!"

45k is the top end, don't matter if it is build 1,10,200 or 499 in my opinion. Also ford dealer fit air con, don't make it very original if half the interior has already been stripped out to have a moody air con system fitted.

Mate of mine has an Escort RS Cosworth.

It's the only car I've ever been scared in yet was well within it's own limits.

Crazy mental vehicles.

I'm shocked by that price but as you rightly point out "find another one!".

If this car is kept as a museum piece then I doubt it will lose any money in the long term.

RS200's were £50k not so long ago and now they are being advertised for £100k plus.

Whatever you're opinion about this car there is no denying that it has some serious motorsport pedigree and this would certainly feature in my Lotto stable.

That RS500 would be too slow for me :D

+ I'd want one that you could rag around in rather than sit an stare at it like a vase..

+1.

In much the same way that Gatso's are misused against their creators ideals, cars like these were born to be driven, so by storing them, the owners are disrespecting the cars.

I had a mate that had one. It was stolen from outside his office-- He watched it drive away never to see it again. :( He used to drive it like he was constantly escaping from a bank heist! Eventually he bought a Ferrari which he kept in the garage most of the time cos he was too scared to take it out.:p

One of the biggest challenges with buying a Cosworth is finding one that hasn't been owned buy those kind of drivers.

I agree that these (as with all performance cars) need to be driven as their makers intended but to have some immaculate low mileage examples around to drool over in years to come is no bad thing.

Too much money IMO.....

BUT....

If you have the cash and not going to drive the car, its a safe investment.
Having owned 4 Cosworths, including the iconic RS500 I can say..
A standered RS500 drives like a piece of crap, laggy slow and boring, just changing the exhaust means to have to alter the T4 turbo because of restrictors inside the down pipe, do this and re-chip the ECU and WOWZER what a difference.
500BHP is easy to achive with these cars BUT reliable it wont be LOL

If I have the spare cash, I would own it

Steve
