Is it easy to change the rubber strips on the outside of the front windows? I find mine don't tend to wipe the mist/rain off the glass when lowering them on a cold day. car is a w202.

Cheers

On my W210 they're also loose fitting and don't wipe the glass, much the same as yours I guess.

Perhaps they are meant to be that way so that the 210 window winder mechanism doesn't have to struggle and break as much!!

Mine wipe a bit but not particularly well - haven't had a good look at them yet so will be intesested to hear how you get on if you take it further.

I don’t think it is their function to wipe the glass, the are there to minimize, as far as possible water entering the inner door. From memory I think the are a soft plastic rather than a rubber composition but I may be wrong.

The are quite easy to remove and refit, and are held in place by about 4 spring clips distributed evenly along there length, if I remember correctly.

I have removed one of mine using a blunt wood chisel by gently levering upwards with a plastic card to protect paint work. The trick is to lever it upwards a millimeter at a time along its full length until you can get your fingertips underneath to finish the job. Have the window all the way down.

Best tool to change them with is half a wooden clothes peg.
Just lever up the metal strip slowly to remove them

I haven't looked at it yet, but when you say lever the strip upwards, is that from inside or outside the car?

Cheers
