Hi Everyone,

Just got my E220 two days ago, it's a 56 Reg.

Anyway its a company car that I drive professionally for a living. On my second day out I had a blow out on the O/S/Rear Tyre. No problem got out the spare and changed it, took it later to a tyre fitting company used by the company and had the tyre changed and refitted.

However I now have a message that is constantly flashing up telling me that I should check my tyre pressures and reset this warning message. The only problem is that I can't find a reset button and the car has no manual.

I really do not want to show my ignorance to the company and would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what I need to do.

Forgive me if this is the wrong forum for posing this question but can someone tell me where it should be submitted. I have put in reset in the FAQ section but no relevant answers were given.

Trust that this is not one of hundreds of formerly asked questions on the same subject but I will try to acquaint myself with the site and learn how it works as time goes by.

Thanks in anticipation.

Not 100% sure as i don't have that option:( but i think you have to hold a button on the steering wheel for a few seconds whilst in some kind of menu related to the flat tyre monitor...i'm sure the boffins will be here shortly.

Many thanks Evdok but I did try this and as many permutations of these buttons as I could think! All with no success so it would seem that if this is the method then i must be using the wrong sequence.
Maybe I should pose the problem in another forum, can someone advice me?

The manuals are published on line by MB
Try a search for electronic mercedes manual & you can view every page.

Make sure that the key is in position 2 in the ignition lock.

The standard display appears in the multi-function display more.

Press or to select the tyre pressure function:

Run Flat Indicator active
Menu: R-Button

Press the reset button on the left of the instrument cluster.

The following message appears in the multi-function display:
Restart Run Flat Indicator?
Yes Cancel
If you wish to confirm the restart:

Press the button.

The following message appears in the multi-function display:
Run Flat Indicator restarted
After a teach-in period, the tyre pressure loss warning system will monitor the set tyre pressures of all four tyres.
If you wish to cancel the restart:

Press the button.
or

Wait until the message
Restart Run Flat Indicator? Yes Cancel disappears.

The tyre pressure values stored at the last restart will continue to be monitored.

No manual with a 56 reg car?

Where did you get it from!

Regarding the manual, maybe I did not explain fully enough. I drive the car for a chauffeur company and one assumes that they are in possession of any manuals and being new to the job it is to cover my embarrassment over my lack of knowledge concerning the vehicle that brings me to the MBClub and to ask for assistance from the members. Sorry if I have caused any confusion.

Dear Members,

Many thanks for your input on this and a special thanks to Russ for your detailed instructions and link to the manual.

Talk about being stupid, it never occurred to me that the sequence needed to be done without the engine running or with the ignition off but with the ignition switched on with no engine running. Been out to the car and it worked a treat, phew can breath again now that the red warning does not keep flashing up to display my ineptitude to the passengers and to cause them unnecessary concern over a rectified problem.

Brilliant and be assured you have my undying gratitude. Once again many thanks.

Roger

No Manual ???

:DHi,
No Manual?
I couldn't help but wonder about that one, luckily I am not a snob or pre-judgemental towards others (despite driving an E class), although all my work collegues do hold their noses in the air occasionally, and say "Ohhh - you drive a Mercedes.
Because its an E, I get labelled as a bit of a "Victor Meldrew" (or old fart, and @ only 4O odd yrs young), but if it were an SLR, I would be having a "mid life", can't win either way!
You cleared that up along the threads, and I wasn't branding you with the Gold earring, "Burrberry brigade" badge, wires hanging out of the steering lock / key et al.
(I have Essex relatives too with such bad rep's, but most of em have a heart of gold).
Human nature, shame on us for being labellers.
