Hi guys,
Can anyone advise what the conditions (speed, rpm, mileage) are for running in my C43 would be please? I've heard conflicting figures being touted from 850 miles & under 85 mph to 3000 miles but under 3000rpm:confused:

Any comments welcome.

Cheers

I think it's in the manual. Keep it below 4000rpm for the first 1000 miles.

That was the advice for our SL400 which is essentially the same engine.

Should be a sticker top right hand corner of the windscreen.....

For the C63 (and I'm sure it will be the same for the 43) it's keep the revs under 4500 and speed below 85mph for the first 1000miles. Use "C" as much as possible, no kick down, or manual change down and vary the engine speed.

If you download the C Class guide to your iPhone or iPad it's a quick reference tool too instead of heading for the manual.

Give MercedesMe a go too.

Nice one RR, pretty much what the dealer I'm buying from told me. Like the M3 is there an early service after the car's run in? My E92 had to have a 1200 mile service and thought this may be similar.

The C63 has an oil change for the LSD at 1800 miles, but that's it, no other post run in check up as far as I'm aware. I think post run in oil change services were common when oil technology wasn't as strong as it is today.

As the 43 is AWD I'm sure this won't apply, though I did have a sport rear diff on my Audi S5.

How are you finding the V6?

Hopefully pick it up on the 12th of this month so only test driven it for a hour and a bit. Put a smile on my face and the wife had to change her knickers after - they are my two main criteria when buying as it makes me happy and keeps her away from the car :thumb:

Good news, picking it up this Saturday :thumb:

Dealer has told me there is no run in schedule on the 43. Only on the 45 and 63 but just to go easy for a few hundred miles? I'll check when I get there to be sure.

Well chuffed :bannana:

As said earlier, see if there is a sticker on top right inside of the windscreen - last two C63s had them telling you what's what.

Remember remember 5th November eh Shane?

Looking forward to seeing and hearing all about it mate.

Ant.

Should be fireworks :)fail)

Cheers Happy, I'll get some pic's video's up at the weekend. What are you guys using for uploading images etc? Still Photobucket (showing my age now).

So my C63s is two days old now. Running in says less than 4500 rpm for first 1000 miles. Don't see how that's possible with that V8 burbling and cracking away. Amazing :)

Cheers for the info. Are those figures in the manual, windscreen or both??

Mine was top right of windscreen, in the manual and online guide, though the online guide refers to the C43 as the C450 interestingly........

Mmm might have given you duff info there, I have a MB Guides app on the iPad. I'll have a double check on the good old interweb.

Spoke to two AMG specialists this afternoon and both told me the same - under 85mph for 500 miles and nothing more.

They both mentioned the 63 and the sticker in the windscreen too.

It's on the windscreen. The manual says the same thing but also suggests that the running in period should be done in Comfort mode.
