Hi clive i have a c43 with very slight rust on both front wings 2or3 small scabs right on the wing lip. Do you think they can be treated with any of the better rust treatments, or will it come back. I have the chance to buy 2 new front wings very cheap. But the rust on mine is so small i wonder if its worth changing the wings.

Hi Clive,

Just bought a 98 320 CLK and both back arches need attention. Any idea of an approx price to make them good? Paint/filler/or metal. Thanks

Hi Clive that would be great if you can give me a heads up on the best way to tackle the problem. I have read that products like rustbuster 123 rust converter have given good results if the rust is not to bad. As i now live in spain it might stand a better chance of working. Many thanks peter.

Hello Clive

I have a 124 Estate 300te with various small body issues, do you repair cars and are you in the essex area

Clive, can I ask....?

For underbody rust you recommended removing loose rust and then putting on Bilt Hamber UB, but for the rusty wing there are loads more steps and products needed. Is that because the wing has to be painted?

Would you recommend using a rust converter on the underbody or not? Or epoxy mastic paint? Or just the BH UB and nothing else?

I've got rust bubbles on doors (and probably underbody but haven't looked at that yet).

Also, I don't know what acid wash and phosphate wash are? Could you name a product?

I have looked at the rustbuster web site, but still couldn't work out exactly which products I needed. There is such a large number of products available and I don't know which ones I have to use.

Sorry if these are daft questions.

Hi, use BH UB for underbody and FE123 for rust treatment on the paintwork

Hi CKLclive.

I brought myself a e320cdi esate w210 year 2000. I am planning to replace my two front wings which are rusty and damaged in an accident. I am also planning replace my tailagte with a secondhand tailgate. I have already got the secondhand tailgate.

after months of research .I came to the conclusion that the best way is to

sand or soda blast both the new and secondhand wings and tailgate to their bare metal and acid wash them and then spray them with molten zinc on both surfaces ( they call it thermal spraying) .then using the necassary primers and top coat And finally spray wax oil or stoneguard on the inside.

In future I may thermal coat internal parts with zinc and then powercoat them eg the subframes, wishbones etc.

what is your commends about this method? I was told hot dip galavising is out of the question as the heat will disort the parts.

Hi Clive, my C220 has quite a bit of rust in some awkward places, so I thought it might be better for you to look at it and give your opinion as to whether it's worth repairing or just leave it to it's own devices.
I'm not too far from you (about 1.5 hours), so I could pop in on a saturday if that's convenient?
Let me know what you think,

cheers
