    Yep, one of THOSE !!!
Positives - Sublime car. Pace and comfort but you must remember it's not a sports car but a luxury saloon.

Negatives - Rust (most in that era are not galvanised) and the suspension can be complex if it goes wrong. Bushes can squeak, control arms may need replacing and the airmatic struts are £800+. Check everything electrical works - check them all. Twice.

These are expensive cars when new and must be respected in that manner as they can throw a big bill now and again. Saying that, it's luxury motoring for bargain money if you are prepared to accept that.

I love my S500 to bits.

Check all the arches for any indication of rust. It always starts on the inside of the arch behind the guard and will creep through quickly.

Make sure the airmatic pump isn't over running as this can be fatal if it fails. IT should go off after a few seconds once started.

Seat switch buttons have known to fail on some.

Of course taking into account all the above...

My W220 is still going strong at 130k and motorway driving is a pleasure rather than a heartache.

    £300-£400 replacement. Hardly fatal.
