S Class experts

Wouldn't say it was cheap 'on paper', but as everyone knows - in the real world there's a marked difference between the finest examples and the average stuff you pick up in auction houses etc.

It's quite possibly been owned by some mature rich person (1 owner = money, Ascot = nice area ;) ), and with full MBSH I'd expect it to be in very fine condition.

So - maybe slightly expensive, but could well be worth the extra if you want a nice one - provided it lives up to expectations.

Cheers Will, anyone know the trade value?

Obviously hard to say without seeing it in person, but has good spec and quite a few very positive properties (1 owner, 56K miles,...). Worth having a look at.

However, my classic advice for these cars still goes: make sure everything works fine and have an independent inspection carried out before buying. Will cost a few hundred, but surely that's worth it if you're spending a big chunk of money?

Trades at £4975 in march's Glass' Guide.

Retail Value is £7995 so this is priced bang on the money according to glass' retail but generally, these are retailed £1000 or so strong in the book and typically, this car should be £6995

If it is as good as it sounds though it is worth buying. An extra £1000 is an extra £1000 but this one does read up very nice and looks very nice indeed.

If you could get it for £7500 that would be fantastic.

I go through Ashtead quite often and cannot think where Ashtead Park Motor Company is. I imagine it's probably a one man band so being that his overheads will be lower gettign £500 and maybe some tax shouldn't be too difficult.

At that price, go for a facelift model.
That particular car might not be used much, but at 8/9 years old you WILL have to spend money on it. Check the history for any work done on the suspension because that is expensive and very common in the earlier w220s.
I was shocked at how cheap these cars are going for nowadays (esp V8 ones). I'm sure for £5-6G's you can get a nice one.

Reading the add and looking at the pictures it has Two very big Plus's if I were buying. First is the full Mercedes history, if it is in fact full and not just an oil service ever three years and all from the same Mercedes dealer, two is that its had only one owner (i assume it was not Ascot mini cabs LTD).
Regards to the price if all the tyres are good and the brakes and disc are the same and its had all the usual things checked like cats and airmatic and its not due for a service its close on the money. Once you have had a good look at it it may turn out to be a really good find especially if its had very little paint work in the past.
