s124 16" 8 hole wheels

Evening all,

I picked up a set of 16" 7.5J 8 hole wheels for my 124 wagon today. I think they've come off a 210 and they're not in bad shape considering the age. They've got some 215/55 rubber on them and I was thinking about swapping those out for a good set of 205/55's I already own.

I wondered if anyone out there is running 16" wheels on a 124? And if so, what's your experience with tyre sizes?

215 55 16s on my 124 Estate. No worries whatsoever.

You're definitely not going to have any issues with the tyre rubbing any part of the car/suspension. The only very minor difference will be the rolling circumference. Handling-wise, you won't notice a thing IMHO.

Just to close the loop put on this one, I bought these wheels and put them on the car this week. I had intended to use them as a temporary measure while I had my 15” 8 holes refurbed but now they’re on the car they look much better than the originals. I think its more to do with them being a 7.5J rather than 16” but either way, they fill the arches much better, make the car look a little bit more modern while maintaining the style and don’t look at all small like the 15’s did…

I'm bought same wheels for winter storage, but some 205/55/16 winter tires on them. Look really nice

Did you stick to the 215/55 sizes or did you switch over to 205/55?

Do you have any pics of how they look on your s124? I'd like to see some pics down the flanks of the car to see how they fill the wheel arches.

Hi ap999 - so far I’m still on the 215’s. I haven’t decided yet but I’m beginning to think that maybe the 205 would be too narrow for the 7.5J wheels.
