Just been doing some of this. Out of interest is it safe to hold the nut and rotate the torx fitting? It's a bit of a fag to get leverage on the nut especially without a ratchet spanner but it seemed to me that persistently rotating the joint inside the boot may not e the best solution. The one boot was very torn, as the MOT said.
Oh and don't just jack up the side of the car you are doing, it twists things whihc makes simple job much harder! Use the under engine lift point and put axle stands on the sill lift points.

Probably best to hold the threaded part as still as possible and turn the nut on installing new ones. When taking out the old links it wont matter as they are going in the bin.
