S204 2012 C class estate air bag recall letter ?

Hi All

Today I received an airbag recall letter for my 2012 C class estate.

I am pondering whether to get the car booked in. I have heard rumours that when its in with the main dealer they will also upgrade (downgrade) the software on the car to comply with the emissions and remove the controversial cheat software.

Which would be ok but I have heard (on this forum) that this affects the cars performance, running, smoothness and mpg. Which I don't want to change.

In the letter it subtly states they will perform any "technical upgrades" while the car is with them.

Any advice, experience of this?

Anything else they might interfere with while its in with them?

I (unfortunately) dont trust the main dealers so am wary of my car going anywhere near them.

My Eclass went in for the same recall. Just tell them you only want the airbag done, they will not touch anything else. Have them write this specifically onto the job sheet.

thanks didn't know you could do that,
I'm happy for them to look over the car as needed but I don't want the software changing. I'll see what they say.
