Also, seems to be water collecting in the offside windscreen scuttle (thing that's what it is called!) that normal or do I need to unblock something?

I used to use a steam cleaner but got fed up with that so took them off.
More modern look IMO

Got a pic please? And how difficult was it?

There's silly little drainage grids each corner that easily get blocked .

Any pointers to the drain points/clearance method please? Don't want to especially reinvent the wheel :) Ta

Any advice on either please?

Open the bonnet, the scuttle drains are usually easy to see, some drain all the way down to almost below the engine some stop short. I cleared one of mine with a length of welding wire, I bent the end over so it was not sharp and prodded the drain clear of gunk. Mine is a C class , but they are all similar.

If you can get hold of a couple of metres of Oregon 4mm square strimmer cutting line it's excellent for clearing the car drains, stiff enough to push but flexible enough to follow the bends in the drains. Used it very successfully on my 968's - but idiot me forgot to take a few metres off the reel when I gave the strimmer and all its accessories to a friend, and keep forgetting to get some back from him!

Really helpful - thanks chaps!

Anybody have thoughts how to clean rubbing strip? Tried a bit of Elbow Grease (rinsed off well!) but didn't touch it. @James Copeland mentioned he'd taken them off - are they glued on or clipped into the bodywork?

Mine were fixed on with 3M strips. Came off with fishing line and IPA with final polish and wax.

Some APC and a soft brush followed by use of a pressure washer would probably be enough for all but the most committed of owners? :)

APC = All Purpose Cleaner? Elbow Grease didn't shift it and I do find that's the best APC. Hah, not THAT committed - just annoying!
