Hello, just a quick update on the previous thread (changed battery now tailgate will not stay open) stripped down the tailgate, disconnected all the switches, opened the tailgate and stopped it and it stays up, so the gas struts help the motor , but the motor holds the tailgate open, so it must be a motor top limit switch fault, i set it to not fully open and it stays open and takes a bit of force to push it down, like a clutch mechanism, so i can live with this, hope it helps .The battery change must be a coincidence.
