S210 B service

Hi Guys, was wondering about the B service, I do all my own servicing myself as I get great satisfaction in working on my own car and done a B service as requested by the display around this time last year, but the car has now come up B service required again, I know it is due service but should it not be an A service now or is it normal for B service to come up again

Was there an 'A' service inbetween?

no A service, and it would be around 12k since last year

I'm interested in this as the car i'm buying last had an A service and is coming up A service again - just before I buy it!

I'm sure mine has always alternated A,B,A,B

Do the service and when you reset the service indicator, it should say service 'X' due in XXXXX miles. I take it when you reset it last time you didn't really take note as to which service it said was next

It depends on the car, but some of them (certainly the W203, not sure about W210) monitor bits and do sometimes decide it's time for a B again.

They have a bad habit of doing this just as the service is due....

I suspect lots of short journeys would make this more likely.

it's supposed to be a smart system, that learns from how you drive, what type of journeys etc. do the oil & filter change every time, then other items as required using your experience & considering the age of the vehicle

I reset it last time and it came up 13k till next service due, I change all filters and oil everytime, just the service book had the previous service down as a B service also, so this would be 3 in a row.
